Mandate This
Things are looking up for the insurance industry. The individual mandate in the Baucus bill means the government will frog march millions of new paying customers into the warm embrace of insurance companies. If the uninsured don’t pay up they will be fined $1900. What if they don’t pay the fine?
UN Follies
Ahmadinejad gave a speech at the UN last night to empty seats and a smattering of empty suits. The Canadian delegation led a walk-out as he took the podium. Delegates were outraged by the Iranian leader’s anti-semitism. Or maybe they needed a bathroom break following Gaddafi’s stemwinder.
Cry Babies
Nancy Pelosi took a page from the Glenn Beck play book a few days ago and got weepy while expressing her fear of violence from Swastika wearing right wingers.
